This Families Commission report brings together New Zealand's family violence statistics to establish a baseline against which future trends can be measured. The data comes from government and non-government agencies that deal directly with the victims and perpetrators of family violence.
The report is intended as a reference document and interpretation of the administrative data was deliberately kept to a minimum. It is not intended to provide a full explanation for any trends or connections in an agency's data. The report does not, for example, take into account any increase in population. This is left for users of the report to explore in detail.
Note: The NZCASS 2006 information on page 134 of this report is now out of date.
