In this submission, the Families Commission supported the ethical use of assisted reproductive technology and ethical research on these technologies.

The prohibition of commercialisation of all dimensions of human reproduction, and the right of everyone to access information about their genetic identity. The submissions comments on the regulation of importing embryos. It also points out that in some circumstances there needs to be a family dimension when giving informed consent for reproductive techniques, rather than simply focusing on individuals. The Commission points out that steps need to be taken to protect the interests of children whose parents wish them to become donors for siblings.
